I believe in my students' ability to enact change in their own life. They should get a say in what they are being taught and how they are being taught. If we expect children to grow up and become leaders of their own lives and our society, we must trust them to lead their own learning. My philosophy is student centered, to work with the students as an advisor, instead of an all knowing entity, to guide their learning through discovery and help them find internal motivation through what drives them personally. In my student teaching, I began to fully appreciate the power of differentiation, and believe that every student can and will achieve if the learning is tailored to how they learn. I believe in bringing in varied instruction for different learning skill levels, which will also encompass various learning styles.

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

 My Teaching Philosophy
Who am I?

" We know what we are, but not what we may be"

                                                  -William Shakespeare

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. I have spent my entire life between the walls of this valley, learning everything I know in its vast expanse. I am a product of the Clark County School District, and every single learning experience I have participated in has been inside Nevada's borders. I attended Doris Reed, St. Francis De Sales, Mabel Hoggard, Hyde Park, Las Vegas Academy, and finally, the Community College High School over the course of my K-12 experience, and experienced something totally unique at each school, which is part of the distinctive nature of CCSD.

This valley is filled, almost to the brim now, with diversity. Every single site I went to during my teacher education experience had a different feel, whether it be the harried hallways of Western, the hopeful anticipation of my Silvestri 6th graders, or the tenacity of my Palo Verde freshman. Even in my work experience, where I experienced Tate, Craig, and Petersen elementary schools while working for the ZOOM program, I saw this distinctiveness. Each student I worked with brought their own personalities and learning styles, and I tried to differentiate and accommodate for each. I am well versed in diversity, knowing nothing else from my first learning experience until now. I am thankful to have been brought up in CCSD and am excited and hopeful to be apart of its growth going forward.
